Before you leave: plan the route once
Upload a GPX, draw it on a map, or pick a classic route. Trailpost works out the distance and total climb, splits it into days at the daily distance you set, and lets you drag the boundaries until the legs land where you can sleep.
Each leg gets a start and end place name, editable, so the page can say "Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven" rather than "leg 6".
Choose what the link shows
Your exact position, your position rounded to the nearest kilometre along the route (the default), or just which leg you're on. Add a delay if you'd rather people saw where you were than where you are. Set the time the daily message goes out.
All of it can be changed mid-trip from your phone.
Share the link, once
You get one link. Send it to the group chat and never think about it again. It stays live for the whole trip and for a year after. Change it at any time and the old one stops working straight away.
People who open it need no app and no account.
Each evening: a line and a photo
Post takes under a minute and sends when you next have signal. Followers who asked for the daily message get one email at the time you chose: the day's distance and climb, where you were last seen, the expected finish, and your post.
A check-in is one tap, from your phone, your watch or a home-screen widget, without opening the app. The page shows it with its time. If you go quiet, the page says how long, in plain words, and nothing else changes. For real safety on remote routes, carry a satellite messenger.
Meanwhile, at home
The page answers "where are they and are they okay" in the first five seconds: last seen near a named place, the check-in and its time, the dot on the route, and the three numbers.
Below that, today's post and every previous day. At the bottom, a box to get the daily message instead of checking.
West Highland Way
Holly, on foot
Rannoch Moor in full rain. Feet fine, spirits fine. Camped by the river.
Afterwards
The page becomes a record of the trip: every day, every post, every photo. It stays up for 12 months on Free and for good on Plus. You can list the trail in the public gallery with live location removed, or delete the whole thing in one tap.
